Hello, I’m Patricia Pearce.

I am an independent Civil Funeral Celebrant and Will Writing Consultant based in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey.
"I was told how much I had helped them on their journey."

I am a member of the International College of Professional Celebrants.  I hold a level 3 NCON Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy together with Public Liability insurance.

I am also an accredited member of the Society of Will Writers.  I hold a Certificate of Compliance together with Professional Indemnity insurance.

I fully comply with the Code of Conduct for both of these reputable Organisations, which is reflected in my business practices and by treating everyone with integrity and the respect they rightly deserve.

My Background

For many years I worked at a firm of Solicitors based in Kingston upon Thames where I specialised in personal injury claims, focusing on clinical negligence cases.

During this period, I met many families dealing with tragic, life-changing events in their lives. It was far from an easy journey for the families, but on many occasions, I was told how much I had helped them on their journey by providing support, compassion and understanding at a time when they needed it most.

My Inspiration

Being inspired by the people I met who overcame such tragedies in their lives, I wanted to continue in a helpful, supportive role. It was only when a close friend, having gone through an unexpected bereavement herself and attended a Celebrant-led funeral ceremony suggested I should think about becoming a Funeral Celebrant, that I did so.

It was then that I realised the importance of end-of-life planning and the benefits of having all your affairs in order.  This is because, whatever decisions that may be made now, can determine what happens in the future and my role would be to ensure that these truly reflect your wishes.

So here I am, and it is an absolute privilege for me to be here for you.

My Goal

Part of my legal background involved considering all options available before making any crucial decisions to ensure that the right option was chosen. Therefore, my goal in this privileged role is to provide families with knowledge that empowers them to make informed decisions about the funeral ceremony they truly want for their loved one by presenting the many available choices and guiding them through it with kindness and compassion.

There are also choices for end-of-life planning to consider and put into place. This could be planning a funeral in advance, so that families do not need to worry about deciding what would be important for their loved one who has died, as it has already been decided. It is also incredibly important to have a Will that sets out what you want to happen to your estate after you have died, as well as having a Lasting Power of Attorney, clearly stating your wishes in the event that you may not be able to make your own decisions later on due to capacity issues caused by illness.

It really is never too soon to consider end-of-life planning. The decisions you make now will not only provide you with peace of mind, by effectively having all your affairs in order, it can also be very empowering as it allows you to be in control of your life by setting out your wishes and what is important to you, regardless of what the future holds.
